Nymphaeales, carried by the water …

The Nymphaeales grow floating leaves and large, eye-catching flowers that are carried by the water. The plants are anchored in the soil via rhizomes, and the substances they contain have a numbing effect that repels pests. In addition to the Nymphaeales, the order also includes the Cabombaceae and Hydatellaceae families, which are widespread in Australia. In total, around 100 species belong to this order.
