Male and female corpuscels take shape and from their connection a little new fern arises. The fern plant unfolds the foliage spirally, and then it grows in the breath. Because the ferns are mostly herbaceous, they stay “on the carpet”. The polypody-like plants form the greatest order of the ferns with about 9000 species. They are common worldwide, but mainly represented in the tropics.
